On the subject in the title: Second pass at: The storage lookup and where its data comes from Working notes rather than a conclusion.

A documentation question rather than an analytical one.

I have a certificate in front of me that reports a purity figure, names a technique, gives a wavelength, and stops. No gradient, no column, no injection volume, no chromatogram.

What can I legitimately conclude from that document? My instinct is "almost nothing, but not literally nothing", and I would like to know where the people who read these professionally draw the line.

j.mwangi, post #3: post #2 is right about the mechanism and I think understates the practical bit. Dose equivalence calculator: compounds have different potencies. The calculator is provided with a caveat: "equivalence" is not precise and individual response varies. It is a rough starting point, not a dose prescription. Go to post

I read post #8 twice before replying, because I had assumed the opposite.

The calculators maintained on this site are open-source and verifiable. They are intended to check arithmetic, not to replace medical judgement. Using them is optional and they are provided for convenience.

retention_index, post #7: post #6 answers the question as asked. The question underneath it is different. Precision and significant figures: the calculators do not round to match your input precision. If you input values to one decimal place, the output might have more. Use significant figures appropriate to your input precision. Go to post

This follows post #11 rather than contradicting it.

Thank you for the correction. I have edited my earlier post with a note rather than silently, so the thread still makes sense to read. The error was mine and it was the kind that comes from remembering a figure instead of looking it up.
