What the staff are committed to
- Every action is logged. In public, with the rule and a rationale, including the ones that were later reversed. 205 entries and counting.
- Disagreement happens in public. The
metacategory is not a suggestion box; staff answer there and have changed their minds there. - No shadow moderation. No secret tiers, no silent downranking, no hidden accounts. A hidden post says it is hidden and why.
- No sponsor influence, ever. Not on a topic, a document, a vendor page, a moderation decision or a rule. See funding.
- Nothing is quietly deleted. Posts are hidden with a note; the topic stays. Whole topics go only for unlawful content or personal information.
Appeals
Post in meta. State what happened, link the action from the log, and say why you think it was wrong. It will be answered by the staff member who acted, or by another if they are unavailable. Reversals are logged as reversals.
